Marcus Coates
My journey so far ...
After studying media and creative writing, with a specialised focus on screenwriting, I commenced postgraduate studies in Languages and Literatures, analysing for my dissertation how the vampire genre reinvents itself for new audiences. For my second MA, this time in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL), I investigated how usage-based methodologies can be utilised to assist student learning. I consider myself a life-long learner with a passion for research and writing creatively using a variety of mediums.

For the last fifteen years, I've been based in Saudi Arabia, with a career in teaching, teacher training, training design, training development, training delivery, assessment design, training management, and stakeholder project briefings. My current role still allows me to pursue my love of instructional design, alongside resource & capability management in the company's Centre of Expertise in the Talent Management team. My days are varied and interesting, as I get to develop programmes and courses, produce visual data, plan events, draft documentation, and look to iteratively progress talented people and the support projects that enhance their career growth. I still enjoy turning up at the office!

In case you're wondering, the term 'Mindful Content', that I collect my writing and designs under, is for me, a reminder to myself to focus on projects and stories that bring me joy and enhance my time on this planet. Each project I showcase on this site brings me joy, as it represents a personal development moment and a great associated memory of the act of creation. Each story, print, linocut, blog and vlog are markers on my journey. So please, poke around my site and enjoy!
